E-Guard (Extra Guard)

E-Guard, aka Extra Guard, aims to implement a human-like, situation-dependent, stumble prevention algorithm.

Note: This feature is in its beta evaluation phase. Stumble-prevention in general has two stages, namely, Stumble Detection and Reaction.

  1. At the Detection stage, the E-Guard algorithm detects stumble or a potential fall. However, the knee does not take action.
  2. At the Reaction stage, the knee will actively flex or extend to prevent stumbling or falling.

In this beta release, only the Detection is implemented. Enabling this option/feature will not lead to any unexpected action from the knee.

It is therefore safe to enable this option and participate in this beta evaluation

Enabling this option will help us evaluate this feature, so that eventually it can become part of the official release and save people from falling.

E-Guard is available for Intuy Knee RISE and Intuy Knee PRO.

How to participate in the beta evaluation?

To participate in the beta evaluation you need to activate the E-Guard function.

1. Click on the dashboard notification button "Give it a try".
2. You will be directed to the setup page and the toggle will be highlighted.
3. Tap the toggle next to E-Guard.
4. E-Guard is now active.

Once the feature is enabled, you can provide feedback in two ways:

  • respond to automatically detected stumbles; or
  • provide manual feedback on undetected stumbles.

You will receive a notification when we have enough data. Then you can turn off this feature/option.

Responding to automatically detected stumbles

When a stumble is detected by the knee, it will emit two beeps.

A message/notification is also given by the Intuy app on the phone as shown in the screenshot below.

Please respond to the message/notification, if a stumble did occur, you can fill out the short feedback form as shown in the screenshots below.

1. Select the type of event: stumble or fall.
2. Select in which phase of the swing the event occurred.
3. Click the "Send"  button to submit your response.

Registering undetected stumbles

If you have stumbled/fallen and the knee did not detect it, please register this undetected stumble/fall using the feedback form (Report it here).

1. Click the "Report it here" button.
2. Add the date and time of when the event occurred.
3. Select the type of event: stumble or fall.
